Glossary
This glossary defines the key terms used throughout Olivia.
Booking
The process of assigning a respondent to a slot for a specific product. See Booking.
Check-in / Check-out
Recording when a respondent arrives at and leaves a research session. Can be done manually, via Study Live, or by scanning a QR code. See On-site Management.
Clinic
The on-site research facility or location where respondents participate in sessions. "Clinic status" in Statistics refers to the live attendance tracking during a study.
Label
An optional internal identifier (e.g., "P001") that can be assigned to a respondent during check-in for tracking purposes.
Mode
The type of research session in a project. Common examples: Focus Group, In-depth Interview (IDI), Quantitative Survey. Each mode has an optional duration. See Modes.
No Show
A respondent who was booked for a slot but did not attend the scheduled session.
Open Quota
The number of additional respondents that can still be booked for a product-mode combination. Decreases automatically as bookings are made.
Product
An item, brand, concept, or variant being evaluated in the study. Products have quotas that control recruiting targets. See Products.
Project
The top-level container for a research study in Olivia. Contains modes, products, slots, questions, invitations, and team members.
Quota
The recruiting limits for a product-mode combination. Includes target (goal), total (with buffer), and open (remaining) counts. See Products & Quotas.
Respondent
A person who has been booked into a slot to participate in a research session. See Respondent Management.
Screened Out
A respondent who was disqualified during or before a session, typically for not meeting study criteria.
Show
A respondent who attended their scheduled session (successfully checked in).
Slot
A time block that can be booked by one respondent. Slots have a mode, date/time, and optional product restrictions. See Slots.
Slot Status
The lifecycle state of a slot. Possible values: Open, Blocked, Pending, Booked, Show, No Show, Screened Out. See Slots - Status Lifecycle.
Study Live
The real-time check-in/out dashboard used during on-site operations. See On-site Management.
Target Quota
The number of respondents required to meet the study's statistical goals for a product-mode combination.
Total Quota
The target quota plus an over-recruitment buffer to account for expected no-shows or cancellations.
