Products

Products are the items you want your respondents to evaluate. For example, if you want to test different types of cars, you need two products. Different products are often different brands or models of the same product. Examples:

• Electric cars, so your products could be:
  • Tesla Model 3
  • BMW i4
  • VW ID.3
• Chocolate, so your products could be:
  • Ritter Sport
  • Lindt
  • Milka

Quotas for Products

Quotas define your recruiting targets for each product and mode combination. They help you track progress and ensure you meet your study goals. There are three quota types:

• Target quota: The number of respondents you need to meet your study goals. For example, if your goal is to recruit 100 respondents for a product, set the target quota to 100.
• Total quota: The target quota plus an over-recruitment buffer to account for no-shows and cancellations. For example, if you need 100 respondents but expect 10% no-shows, set the total quota to 110.
• Open quota: The number of respondents that can still be booked. This starts equal to the total quota and automatically decreases with each booking. For example, if your total quota is 110 and you have booked 40 respondents, the open quota is 70.

Quota validation rules:

• The target must be less than or equal to the total.
• The open quota must be less than or equal to the total.
• All values must be 0 or greater.

With Olivia you have detailed live statistics about your project. At any time you can check how many respondents you have booked for each product and mode. This gives you a clear overview and you can see at a glance if you are on track to meet your goals.

Add products

Click on "Create products" on the onboarding screen and then on "Add products". You most likely have more than one product, so adding products is simplified to enable adding multiple products at once. After you clicked on "Add products", you will see a text field where you can enter the names of your products. Enter the names of your products, one per line, and click on "Add products".

Add quotas to products

After you have added your products, you can add quotas for each mode and product. Click on "Edit" and you will see a table with all modes and products. Enter the quotas for each product and mode and click on "Update".

Once you have added quotas for your products, all you have to do is add your slots and you are ready to go.

Import Products from Excel

If you have a large number of products, you can import them from an Excel file instead of entering them manually.

1. Prepare an Excel file (.xls, .xlsx, or .csv) with a single column headed product.
2. Each row should contain one product name.
3. On the Products page, click "Import from Excel" and upload your file.

Olivia will create all products from the file. If a product with the same name already exists, it will be skipped (no duplicates are created).

Deleting Products

You can delete a product only when:

• All quota values (open, total, target) for the product are set to 0.
• No slots are directly assigned to the product.

If slots have the product in their product restrictions list, Olivia will automatically remove the product from those restrictions before deletion.

To delete a product, open the product editor and click "Delete Product". If the button is not visible, ensure all quotas are set to 0 first.
